Communicate packaging criteria to avoid risk

Establishing customer and supplier synergy is key to a successful product launch. To minimize risk in packaging, the medical device manufacturer and the packaging supplier should evaluate, document, and agree upon each party's needs, expectations, limitations, and risk.

Lora Keena addressed these issues in a presentation to the MD&M West 2009 packaging conference. Read a summary of her speech at PMPNews.com and learn more about the importance of performing risk assessment as well as determining who will perform tests and when; how results will be documented; and what path will be taken in the event of failure.

View an excerpt of Keena's presentation, in which she specifically addresses the risks of packaging failure for medical device manufacturers and the importance of communicating those risks to the packaging supplier. The better the MDM communicates risks to the supplier, the better the MDM and supplier can work together to avoid them.
